Webinar - Creating and Maintaining an Academic Portfolio

This webinar is designed to help develop strategies for success in development of an academic portfolio and CV throughout the trajectory of a career, including during training and thereafter. We will describe techniques and strategies to optimize an academic portfolio. Speakers will provide advice for tailoring academic portfolios to different career trajectories (clinician educator, lab-based physician scientist, division chief). Sample portfolios that show essential components for promotion at different career stages (fellow, assistant professor, associate professor, professor) will be reviewed. The process of building an academic medicine portfolio can serve as a reflective exercise and a guide to facilitate career advancement, and we will encourage panel discussion and a question-and-answer session at the end of the webinar. We will also offer participants the opportunity to sign up for CV reviews following the webinar, to be completed by speakers and/or members of the Professional Development Committee. 

This webinar session is critical to promote professional competency, help achieve career goals, encourage graceful self-promotion, and thus improve well-being. By equipping attendees with tools to create an academic portfolio, led by speakers who are advanced in their careers, we hope members will feel empowered to revise their own portfolios, and achieve success in completing promotional packets and moving on to the next stage in their careers.
